  • Prof. Abdus Samad is a faculty member in the Department of Ocean Engineering at IIT Madras, specializing in ocean energy systems and optimization, and artificial intelligence applications in marine engineering. He currently serves as the Head of the Department and brings over 15 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership.
  • His research contributions span wave energy conversion, design optimization, fluid machinery, and computational fluid dynamics. Prof. Samad has authored over 175 Scopus-indexed publications, authored and edited multiple books, and holds five patents. He is a Fellow of ASME, IMechE, and IEI, and has received several awards for his academic and professional achievements.
  • Prof. Samad leads multiple international collaborative projects, including Indo-UK and Indo-German initiatives, and serves as the Conference Chair of ICOE2025. He is also actively involved in promoting the blue economy through capacity building, policy advocacy, and technology development.
